Rust Leeds summer social: pizza, ping-pong and good chat
When
Wednesday 15 July
Time
18:00
Venue

Rust Leeds is skipping the talk this month in favour of a summer social. The format is straightforward: show up, grab some pizza and a drink, play a bit of ping-pong if you fancy it, and catch up with other Rust developers in Leeds. No slides, no Q&A, no agenda to follow.
The evening runs from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday 15 July 2026, hosted at Doza Consulting on the sixth floor of Platform at New Station Street. Arrivals kick off at 6 pm with food and drinks laid on. Things wrap up just before 8 pm — with the England game kicking off shortly after for anyone who wants to carry on somewhere nearby.
Rust Leeds meets monthly and draws in developers working with or curious about the Rust programming language. Most months there's a technical talk; this month the group is using the summer slot for something more informal. It's a good opportunity to meet people you've only seen on a screen, or to introduce yourself to the community if you've been meaning to come along for a while but haven't found the right moment. The group is free to join and the events are free to attend.
The meetup is hosted by Sophie S. and two other organisers from the Rust Leeds Meetup Group. Platform is one of the more accessible venues in Leeds city centre, sitting directly above Leeds railway station, which makes it easy to get to whether you're coming from the office or from further afield.
Why attend
If you've been to Rust Leeds before, this is the low-pressure version — no need to follow along with a technical talk, just turn up and talk to people. Pizza and drinks are provided.
If you haven't been before, a social is a reasonable first event. You can get a sense of who comes along and what the group is like without committing to a full talk evening. The England game afterwards gives a natural exit point if you need one.
Agenda
- 18:00 — Arrivals, networking, pizza and drinks, ping-pong
