Atanas Chanev, Staff Solutions Architect at Bitrise, is coming to Leeds to talk through remote development environments for mobile app creation. The core idea: move your inner development loop onto the same infrastructure that already runs your CI pipeline, so you can build iOS and Android apps without owning, managing or updating Apple hardware.

The talk covers running coding agents in secure, scalable environments controlled by your platform team. That means visibility, policies and enterprise guardrails built in — relevant if your organisation is trying to roll out AI-assisted development without losing control of what's actually happening. Atanas brings 18 years of commercial experience across consulting, web, mobile and DevOps, and an academic background to go with it.

Beyond the talk, Leeds Mobile is running a raffle on the night with one free ticket to SwiftLeeds and KotlinLeeds up for grabs. Mexican street food comes from El Kantina, and Northern Monk are providing drinks — alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Food and drinks are for RSVP'd attendees only, so you need to register with your full name to be eligible.

Leeds Mobile is one of the longer-running mobile-focused meetup groups in the city, bringing together iOS and Android developers, platform engineers and mobile-adjacent folk on a roughly monthly basis. Events tend to mix a main talk with networking, and the group has a track record of pulling in speakers from well-known tooling and platform companies alongside local practitioners.

The venue is Northern Monk Refectory in Holbeck's Marshalls Mill — a familiar spot for Leeds tech events, combining a working brewery with a large, informal space that suits an evening of talks and conversation.

Why attend

If you work in mobile platform engineering or iOS/Android development at any scale, this talk is directly practical. Atanas is covering a specific architectural shift — offloading the dev inner loop to CI infrastructure — with implications for teams trying to reduce hardware overhead or introduce AI coding agents safely.

You'll also be in a room with Leeds Mobile regulars: iOS and Android developers, platform engineers and tooling folk. The format is relaxed, the food is from El Kantina, and there's a free ticket to SwiftLeeds and KotlinLeeds being raffled on the night. Worth the evening.
